Purpose

  • The Social Media Coordinator’s key area of responsibility at Crossroads Christian Church is to manage activities related to the online promotion of Crossroads church, activities and ministries. Our social media presence is another way we can reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Using designated online social media platforms, this position ensures Crossroads branding, messaging and promotions are accurately reflecting the mission and vision of the church.  Using these platforms as a way to reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ is critical. This position is essential for managing all aspects of our online activities including posts, reels, video creation, editing and photography.  The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for assembling and managing a team of volunteers who can provide digital content.  Keeping a consistent online presence will create a digital environment that is welcoming which helps bring people in a relationship with Jesus. 

General Requirements

  • Member of Crossroads Christian Church and agrees with church Tenets of Faith.
  • Has completed all Journey classes or actively in process of completion
  • Must be able to commit to required work hours and be available for requested meetings
  • Evident relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills as outlined in the Bible.
  • Spiritual maturity

Reporting Structure

  • This position reports directly to the Operations Manager
  • There are no paid direct reports to this position

Role Specific Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organization skills
  • Strong social media knowledge and ability to navigate these platforms
  • Demonstrated social media engagement results
  • A clear vision and strategy to grow Crossroad’s social media presence 
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Has to be able to work closely with peers and church congregation (people skills)
  • Able to build teams and delegate work
  • Knowledge of simple video editing- such as iMovie
  • Mac/iPhone proficiency preferred, or must be trainable to use these tools
  • Has a heart to reach the lost through the use of social media platforms

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Social Media Platforms (Instagram, Youtube and Crossroads public and private Facebook pages)

  • Post internal news and upcoming events on public and private Facebook pages and Instagram.
  • Work with the Graphic Designer to obtain graphics needed for events and notices
  • Has access and administrative permissions to all church related social media accounts.
  • Responds to and manages posts on platforms
  • Monitors and removes inappropriate posts and content
  • Lead and coordinate the Media Team of photographers and videographers and video editors to obtain needed media for social media.
  • Publish weekly at minimum two reels to our social media platforms using video from Sunday sermons (Media team member can edit the videos)
  • Continues to find new ways to promote and grow Crossroads reach through social media.
  • Coordinates with ministry leaders to provide photo/video support of their events and activities (maintain a calendar of events for the Media Team)
  • Captures pre-service photos and videos to be posted to social media platforms prior to the first service.
  • Captures photos and videos during service to be posted on social media platforms post-services.
  • Posting photos and video on social media sites (Reels, posts, stories and story highlights)
  • Manages storage of media on One Drive
  • Posting videos and photographs of subject matter pertaining to Sunday services, special services and special events/outreach (ex. VBS, picnic, harvest, women’s and men’s events, children’s events, etc).
  • Track and report our metrics on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Utilizes Vimeo for editing of videos/sermons
  • Edits or leads volunteers who edit any requested videos
  • Participate in weekly Promotions Team meetings to align on what is being promoted
  • This position is not required to be part of the Tuesday Ministry Staff meetings. May be called on occasion to participate.
