It’s estimated that by Acts 4, the church in Jerusalem had grown to around 50,000 believers. The Apostles were sharing the Gospel and under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it was spreading like fire.
Jesus’ command to them was clear:
Matthew 28:
17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted! 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
This command has never changed, and it’s to be the heartbeat of the church…”go and make disciples.” You can “go” and do a lot of things, but how do you make a disciple? It takes passion, preparation, and participation.
This weekend at Crossroads, we introduced 14 Life Groups that begin this September. While I listened to the teachers describe their groups to the church I sat in awe of their passion and the amount of preparation it takes to teach one of these groups. After the service, the sign up tables were full, as many were making the commitment to participate in a Life Group. To be a disciple is all about making a life-changing decision to grow in the knowledge of Scripture and applying that knowledge to your life with wisdom. Solid Biblical teachers help us along in this process, and Crossroads has been gifted with such teachers!
If you haven’t signed up for a LIFE GROUP there is still time to do so. Make a personal commitment to participate in one of the 14 groups now being offered at Crossroads. Go to our website and click on the link “Connect” and you will find another link to “Life Groups.” Choose your group and register; or after church on Sunday you can go to a sign up table in the foyer and register there.
Enjoy growing in the Lord.
Love,
Pastor Pat
