When it rains just right, bubbles are formed in the puddles. If you have never seen this stop by and watch with me in my “Cheektowaga Garage.” They form best where there is oil from blacktop after a hot day.
A few years ago, the bubbles were forming perfectly and my grandson Trevor and I watched them with awe. He ran and stepped on them with all the zeal of an 8 year old. I was never much of a runner, so with the wisdom of a grandfather I decided we should get the BB gun out and shoot them! HA! It was a divine inspiration, something I had never done. He was excited and so was I. We sat there for the longest time shooting “PUDDLE BUBBLES” with a BB gun.
Have you ever heard these weather related sayings?
- When a bubble stays in a puddle, go home it’s going to continue to rain.
- When the wind blows the tree leaves over, there’s a storm approaching
- Cows laying down in a field means it will likely rain.
- Red sky in the morning sailors take warning. Red sky at night sailor’s delight.
- A ring around the moon means snow is coming.
- When you see wind swept cirrus clouds it will rain the next day for sure.
Read the words of Jesus:
Luke 12:54–56 (NLT) 54 Then Jesus turned to the crowd and said, “When you see clouds beginning to form in the west, you say, ‘Here comes a shower.’ And you are right. 55 When the south wind blows, you say, ‘Today will be a scorcher.’ And it is. 56 You fools! You know how to interpret the weather signs of the earth and sky, but you don’t know how to interpret the present times.”
When I listen to the verbal attacks on the current president of the United States and the total lack of respect given to his office and his family, it’s a sign of the times we live in.
2 Thessalonians 2:3 (NLT) 3 Don’t be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction.
Friends of mine from other countries have said to me, “America is in real trouble.” This attitude and right that people believe they have to “resist” was predictable…just like when the cows sit down in the field it’s going to rain!
Guard the hearts of your children. Correct rebellion and lawlessness when you see it in their actions. Teach them honor and respect. Timely words are important. Clear direction and correction will save their lives…Proverbs tells us;
Proverbs 23:14 (NIV84) Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.
Spend time together as a family and watch the puddle bubbles. If you have a BB gun give it a shot. You will create a lasting memory.
SUNDAY @ CROSSROADS:
Tomorrow (Thursday) I will be picking up Pastor Francis from Kenya, Africa who will be our guest speaker under the tent this Sunday. I have known him for 20 years and always like to give people a chance to support his ministry. At the end of the service I will be taking up a special offering.
Remember right after church we will be serving Pizza for “SLICE OF SUNDAY.” My grandson Trey recently played basketball in New Jersey and announced, “Pop Pop our pizza is the best there is….the best forever!” Amazing how excited a kid can get over pizza…Enjoy this Sunday under the tent with your family. See you then.
Love and blessings.
