It was early in the spring and I was at one of the lowest points in my life, fighting cancer and having just finished chemotherapy. I went out in back of the church and began salting the weeds in the stone parking lot. Salt kills weeds. Next to the pine tree near the parking lot, there is a large boulder that I stood on and where the Lord spoke to me, “You will not die, but you will live and spread more salt.” Then Lord reminded me from my past about Psalm 40. I knew it by heart and quoted it out loud:
Psalm 40
1 I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. 3 He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.
What’s the power that lifts you from the pit of despair; out of the mud and mire and sets your feet on solid ground and steadies you as you walk? It’s the same power that raised Christ from the dead! It’s the resurrection power of the HOLY SPIRIT operating in your life.
Ephesians 2:4–10 (NLT)
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) 6 For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.
Romans 8
11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.
Blessings and much love,
