Small Group Studies

making big church small

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Small Group Studies at Crossroads provide a community-like atmosphere where you can learn about God while getting to know others. We grow in the knowledge of Jesus and encourage each other to live it out. Small groups are offered for the Fall and Spring semesters with a church-wide small group at the beginning of the year. Our offerings include such topics as worldview, marriage, family, parenting, finances, prayer, leadership, etc. Life is better in groups!

The rapture is the central event in biblical prophecy. But what does it mean for us today? How can this crucial end times event draw us nearer to God in a world that is seemingly on the brink of chaos? Political turmoil, economic uncertainty and ideological divide that feels increasingly impassable – the signs of the times point us toward the end, and that can be disconcerting. The greatest truth about the rapture is not its timing, but its reality—for blessed are all who long for His appearing. In this book study, you will discover 31 ways to be rapture ready. The Great Disappearance, by Dr. David Jeremiah, was written to inspire and challenge you to live boldly and expectantly in today’s world. This 8-week study begins Monday, April 15th from 6:30pm-8pm in the Jr. High Identity Room at Crossroads. Note: No class on Memorial Day (5/27).

Interruptions. They’re aggravating. Sometimes infuriating. But how we handle interruptions actually tell us more about ourselves. What do we do when God interrupts our lives? Many times, like Jonah, we run! In this women’s study, Priscilla Shirer redefines interruption and shows that interruption is actually God’s invitation to do something beyond our wildest dreams. When Jonah was willing to allow God to interrupt his life, the result was revival in an entire city. Cost for study book (w/video access) is $25. This 7-week women’s study begins Tuesday, April 9th from 6:30pm-8:30pm in the K/1 Classroom at Crossroads.

DONNA ANDREWS, CELESTE BROOKS

This in-depth Bible study for women will help you see the church as Christ sees her – a shining Bride preparing for her beloved Bridegroom. You will discover how Jesus often used the marriage relationship to teach us about Himself, His purposes and His ways. The study draws from the rich symbolism of the ancient Jewish wedding customs, familiar during Jesus’ time, but not always understood by today’s Christians. This remarkable journey through Scripture will encourage and inspire you as you come to better understand God’s plan for the church and how believers can work together to prepare for Christ’s return. By the conclusion of this study, you will discover fascinating biblical truths that point the climax of human history- the marriage feast of the lamb! This 7-week women’s study begins Wednesday, April 24th from 9:30am – 11am. Donna Andrews and Celeste Brooks will be co-leading this group at offsite at 5532 William Street, Lancaster.

Is the desire of your heart to be close to God? Do you long for an intimate relationship with your Creator but He seems elusive? Perhaps it is because something essential is missing in your life—the fear of the Lord. Don’t let this frighten you. Fearing God is very different than being afraid of God. It’s the key to everything. Holy Fear is not a topic you’ll hear much about these days, but if you want to build a faith that stands strong through troubled times, you cannot afford to ignore it. In this 6-session video Bible study, bestselling author John Bevere explores more than forty promises in Scripture given to those who embrace holy fear—rewards such as holiness, wisdom, legacy, confidence, happiness, and security. He invites you to take a fresh look at what it means to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. And he shows how approaching God in this way allows you to discover the deeper relationship with the Lord that your soul longs for and that He desires to have with you. This 6-week study, co-led by Geoff & Marie Joy and Stuart & Laura Harper, begins Thursday, April 11th from 6:30pm-8pm in the Hope Café Foyer at Crossroads.

Step 2 of the Journey: The world is filled with information and competing ideas. Many voices, web pages and books claim to have the truth that people should follow, but they cannot all be true. The Bible claims to be true and says that only God’s words will last forever. This 9-week course presents evidence that the Bible is true and is the only book fully worthy of our trust. The teaching style is interactive so participants can ask questions each week. Bill Marshall Jr. and Shawn Claybolt co-lead this study, beginning Friday, April 5th at 6:30pm in the Crossroads Youth SanctuaryChildcare provided on request.
